MSM does appear to give relief to those suffering from osteoarthritis and other types of joint and muscular pain. Sanley W. Jacob, M.D., and Ronald M. Lawrence, M.D., in their book, The Miracle of MSM, recount that many of their patients find relief with MSM. They believe that MSM helps osteoarthritis by reducing pain and possiblely slowing cartilage degeneration.

According to Muhammed Mayeed, Ph.D., et. al, in Boswellin, the Anit-Infammatory Phytonutrient, boswellic acids have been tested in both animal and humal trials with positive results. In animal studies, they have been shown to reduce the deterioration of glycosaminnoglycans, which are intergral in building tissue that supports joints.
